Born in Mexico in 1948, the Original Margarita celebrated its 75th anniversary last year. Cocktail legend has it that Margaret “Margarita” Sames, an American socialite known for hosting notoriously lavish parties, came up with the recipe that brought together two of its creator’s favourite spirits, Cointreau and tequila — shaken with lime juice for balance and sublimated by a signature salt rim. ..
