Mercedes-Benz has revealed its refreshed GLS SUV.
Exterior changes are relatively subtle, centred on a larger front radiator grille with a chrome frame and contour lighting. A Mercedes-Benz pattern is etched into the chrome, while, depending on the market, the upright bonnet star can illuminate when at a standstill or while driving.
The look is rounded off by a revised front bumper and updated headlamp and taillamp clusters with a star motif. The headlamps incorporate the latest-generation Digital Light system, which expands the light field by 40% while reducing power consumption by half.

The paint palette expands to include Dark Petrol flat and Manufaktur Patagonia Red metallic. Buyers can also choose from two 21-inch alloy wheel designs, along with a 22-inch AMG multi-spoke option offered in two colour finishes. A glass panoramic roof is now standard across the line-up.
In the cabin, the focus shifts to the MBUX Superscreen, now fitted as standard. Stretching across the dashboard beneath a single glass surface, it integrates three 12.3-inch displays. These include a digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment interface and a dedicated passenger screen. Ambient lighting works in tandem with the display themes, offering a range of customisation options.
Rear occupants benefit from two 11.6-inch screens, along with additional features such as removable MBUX remote controls. Further changes include a “Beech Brown” interior option, a redesigned steering wheel with physical switches replacing touch-sensitive controls, electrically adjustable seating across all three rows, and improved acoustic insulation.

Elsewhere, the latest Mercedes-Benz Operating System supports over-the-air updates and incorporates AI-based functions. A revised MBUX Virtual Assistant and navigation with Google Maps integration aim to improve usability. Driver assistance systems are supported by a comprehensive sensor suite comprising 10 cameras, up to five radar sensors and 12 ultrasonic sensors.
Powertrain revisions see every derivative adopt a 48-volt mild-hybrid system with an integrated starter generator, supporting functions such as energy recuperation and smoother stop-start operation. The GLS 580 4Matic V8 delivers 395kW and 750Nm, with updates aimed at improving response and efficiency, while the GLS 450 petrol derivative gains additional torque.

Diesel variants, including the GLS 350d and 450d, make use of an electrically heated catalyst to improve emissions performance during cold starts, alongside aluminium construction and reduced internal friction. Mercedes-Benz says these changes enhance both refinement and pulling power.
All versions are paired with an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

As before, ride comfort is a GLS priority. Airmatic air suspension is standard on all models, maintaining a constant ride height regardless of load, while allowing the vehicle to be raised or lowered depending on conditions, including off-road driving. Its cloud-based damper control system can also adjust damping in anticipation of road imperfections.
Models equipped with optional E-Active Body Control add a 48-volt system with multiple processors and more than 20 sensors, enabling adjustments up to 1,000 times per second.
This allows independent control of spring and damping forces at each wheel, helping to reduce body roll, pitch and squat. According to Mercedes, the revised setup delivers improved control without compromising comfort.
The refreshed Mercedes-Benz GLS is expected to go on sale later this year, with pricing to be confirmed closer to launch.
