Cape Town in for a cold‚ wet weekend while Joburg urged to bundle up

It’s a good idea to keep a jersey handy in the south of the country, which is in for a cloudy and cool weekend.

South African Weather Service forecaster Lebogang Makgati said that Cape Town at 27°C and Port Elizabeth at 25°C would be warm on Friday ahead of expected weekend rain.

Johannesburg and Pretoria were cooler on Friday at 22˚C and 23˚C respectively. Durban was partly cloudy at 23˚C.

Capetonians can expect rain on Saturday evening leading into Sunday. A 30% chance of light showers is expected‚ mainly in the city centre area. The rain will extend to outlying areas such as Paarl and Worcester. There is a 60% chance of showers along the Cape West Coast in places like Langebaan and Vredendal.

“Johannesburg‚ Pretoria and Durban will be partly cloudy on Saturday. Port Elizabeth will be fine and warm‚” said Makgati.

On Sunday‚ Cape Town will still experience light showers with cool temperatures but the mercury will drop in Port Elizabeth where there is a 60% chance of showers.

Johannesburg and Pretoria will be fine and cool on Sunday.
