Bill Gates apparently had to explain the difference between HIV and HPV to President Donald Trump - twice.
A leaked video of Gates speaking to staff at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation about meeting the US president recently found its way to MSNBC’s Chris Hayes.
Gates has met with Trump three times since the latter became president.
Among the observations Gates made about Trump was the fact he had to clarify the difference between HIV and HPV. Not only that, but Gates was rather disturbed by how much Trump knew about the appearance of his daughter, Jennifer.
“Melinda didn’t like that,” Gates quipped.
Gates explained that the pair had met at an event involving horses, only for Trump to leave and return 20 minutes later in a helicopter.
In another anecdote about the president, Gates was surprised at how Trump spoke about himself.
“He said, ‘Trump hears that you don’t like what Trump is doing,’ and I thought, ‘Wow, but you’re Trump,’” Gates told his audience, with a perplexed look on his face.
According to life science news website STAT Gates had apparently previously rejected an offer to be Trump’s science adviser, saying, “That’s not a good use of my time.”
