Growing up, I was a disciplined child. I got good grades, academic awards and hardly strayed out of line. I behaved, treated everyone with respect and never spoke out of turn. So you can imagine the mortification at the first ever (and probably last) detention notice I received. Not for disobedience or delinquent behaviour, rather punishment for missing a Saturday tennis match. ..
