Actress Lwazilubanzi Mthembu says she's been practising good health since her exit from eTV's House of Zwide in January.

She has shed 20kg through her “Good Health Stokvel” training sessions.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Lwazi said the “Good Health Stokvel” started with her personal journey when she was struggling with her health and trying to lose weight, and felt alone in it.

“I prayed about it, and then something clicked. I realised I could help others going through the same thing. When I started, I had no clue about nutrition or fitness. It was tough. But then I joined the research project by Tiger Brands' Eat Well Live Well institute and that changed everything. I had a dietician, a coach, a trainer all in my corner.

“It hit me that I wanted to offer that kind of support to others. That's how 'Good Health Stokvel' was born. Plus, seeing the obesity crisis in South Africa, I knew I had to do something. There's not enough focus on prevention and management. I wanted to bridge that gap and make a difference. Here I am, pouring my heart into helping others live healthier lives”, she said.

Lwazi believes she got a wake up call from her family’s health struggles.

Seeing her loved ones battle with lifestyle diseases hit her hard.

“Specially when my father passed away due to Covid-19 and the doctor mentioned his weight was a factor.”

“That was a turning point. I realised lifestyle changes could be our best medicine. I dived into my own journey, shedding 20kg along the way. Shedding those 20kg was a very difficult journey and still is, but it’s not only about the number on the scale for me. It’s about something bigger. I want to empower other women struggling with weight to see their health in a whole new light. I want them to embrace non-scale victories and understand their bodies inside and out. That’s where the real transformation happens — nourishing not only our bodies, but our minds and souls too.”

When TshisaLIVE asked Lwazi when her fans will see her on their screens, she said: “ I’ve bid farewell to the House of Zwide. My heart still holds a special place for them. But you know how it goes in this industry — it’s always on to the next adventure. I’ve been back at auditions and look forward to all the future prospects.

“I’ve just wrapped up an international film and it’s going to be a blast. It’s a romcom that’s bound to bring smiles and laughter to everyone who watches. I wish I could spill all the details, but for now let’s say it’s a beautiful, genuine story with some amazing stars. I’m honoured to have been part of it, and I can’t wait for South Africa and the world to share in all the joy it brought into my life. Stay tuned for the release. It’s going to be worth the wait.”
