SABC1 has launched its new telenovela Amalanga Awafani.
The national broadcaster hosted the launch of the telenovela at Canelands, Ballito, where people gathered to meet the show's cast.
Amalanga Awafani is produced by Stained Glass productions, known for their great work on Uzalo and The Wife. Amalanga Awafani will take over Skeem Saam‘s previous time slot at 6.30pm from April 28.
Producer Pepsi Pokane told TshisaLIVE he was excited about the show and hoped viewers would be glued to their screens.
“We've created the best show that brings fresh new talent. The storyline embraces the Zulu culture with Bhinca taste, but also showcases different parts of the provinces. So we are excited about the casting of this show,” he said.
The new telenovela promises a gripping storyline that will leave viewers intrigued and on the edge of their seats. It is set against a backdrop of newfound riches, choices and desires and follows the story of twins Sabelo and Thembi whose lives take a dramatic turn after finding a winning lotto ticket.
However, fortune brings challenges and hidden agendas. Mzansi will witness how the pair navigate their lives after the sudden riches.
Amalanga Awafani boasts a star-studded cast that includes Nonsikelelo Mthiyane, Fanele Zulu, Sthandwa Nzuza, Melusi Yeni, Velile Makhoba, Mduduzi Mnguni and Sbonakaliso Mazibuko.
