Bester was convicted of murder and two counts of rape after luring women via Facebook. He was serving a life sentence when he escaped from the Mangaung maximum-security prison last year by setting his cell alight. A dead body was found in the room and officials announced Bester's death at the time.

Dr Nandipha Magudumana’s father, Zolile Cornelius Sekeleni, appeared to tear up when he heard he was granted bail in the Bloemfontein magistrate's court on Monday.
This came as the state indicated it did not oppose bail for Sekeleni, which was set at R10,000.

Dr Nandipha Magudumana’s father, Zolile Cornelius Sekeleni, was granted bail appeared in the Bloemfontein magistrate's court on Monday.
This came as the state indicated that it did not oppose bail which was set at R10,000. He is expected to appear again in court on May 16.

Dr Nandipha and father appear in court
“Facebook rapist” and murderer Thabo Bester's lover, Dr Nandipha Magudumana, will appear in the Bloemfontein magistrate's court on Monday.
She will appear alongside her father, Zolile Cornelius Sekeleni, and two other accused, former G4S employee Sehone Matsoara and G4S CCTV technician Teboho Lipholo.

Fast-food chain Nando’s has distanced itself from an advert making light of “Facebook rapist” Thabo Bester and Dr Nandipha Magudumana's escape saga, saying it is in bad taste and not aligned to its brand or values.
Bester and Magudumana were brought back to South Africa earlier this month after being arrested in Tanzania.
