Norma Foster, Northcliff: It is my opinion, as an avid theatre and entertainment patron, that someone is making money out of this.

I also think South Africans are tired of being fleeced.

There was Cirque d'Soleil at The Dome, for which I paid a fortune to sit six rows from the front and saw very little, or when I went to Top Gear, paid a fortune and was disappointed along with thousands of others.

The people making the money take the criticism and walk away.

As we have paid for the tickets in advance there is no way we can get our money back, nor get them bad reviews.

We don't want to pay between R350 and R500 per ticket for these productions.

Also, we are in a huge economic downturn and people don't have that kind of money to spend. After being burnt with Cirque d'Soleil and Top Gear, I have not been back to any show or theatre production.

So, maybe thank overseas productions for making us scared and voting with our feet. They still got away with hundreds of thousands, even when we all complain.
