Cheryl Zondi put herself at the centre of attention by holding a press conference on Tuesday, during which she said she was willing to go through the "gruelling" process of testifying against Nigerian pastor Timothy Omotoso all over again.

Zondi's previous emotional testimony made headlines as she detailed alleged incidents of sexual abuse by Omotoso. She described the church as a cult and said she was manipulated into performing various sexual acts.

Judge Mandela Makaula has recused himself from the case, leading to suggestions that there may be a retrial.

Zondi said that despite the trauma of detailing what she allegedly went through - and receiving apparent death threats - she wanted justice to be served.

On social media, Zondi got support from many people who applauded her "strength."
