Jaguar Land Rover have made a solemn vow to take the makers of the new 'Land Wind' which looks exactly like the Range Rover Evoque to task for allegedly violating international copyright regulations.

The R700,000 Evoque which is one of Jaguar Land Rover'S (JLR) best selling cars was shamelessly copied by a barely known Chinese car manufacturer, Land Wind.

According to Daily Mail, Ian Callum, chief designer for JLR noticed the similarities between the two cars when he attended the Guangzhou Motor Show recently. Callum tweeted: “New LandWind from China. At Guangzhou auto show. Haven’t we seen this before somewhere??”

The Land Wind features the same size, shape, interior and exterior design as the Evoque. It retails for R250 000.

Jaguar Land Rover chief executive Dr Ralf Speth told Autocar magazine: ‘The fact that this kind of copying is ongoing in China is very disappointing. The intellectual property (IP) is owned by Jaguar Land Rover and if you break that IP then you are in breach of international regulations.’
