Given the chaotic preparation, Bafana Bafana managed a convincing first-leg victory to earn a three-goal advantage in the tie of this African Nations Championship first round qualifier. All Bafana's goals came in the first half, from Thamsanqa Gabuza and a brace by Siphelele Ntshangase. Mauritius finished with 10 men after David L'Enclume brought down Wandile Letlabika in the 81st minute.
