Lwah Ndlunkulu, the first lady of Inkabi Records, emerged as a top contender in this year's Basadi in Music Awards with an impressive four nominations. Her hit song Ngiyeza placed her in the prestigious Afro Pop Artist of the Year category alongside Brenda Mtambo, Kelly Khumalo, Lioness Mohoje and Nomfundo Moh. Her collaboration with Siya Ntuli on Ithuba earned her a Song of the Year nomination, while her featured appearance on Fifi Cooper's Ngeke secured a nod for Best Hip Hop. Lwah is also vying for the coveted Artist of the Year title.
Earning three nominations each are Pabi Cooper, Uncle Waffles and Ney the Bae, who co-hosted the inaugural Basadi in Music Awards in 2022. Pabi's Waga Bietjie positions her as a strong contender in the categories of SofnFree Amapiano Artist of the Year, Music Video of the Year and Song of the Year, which she won at the 2022 Basadi in Music Awards.

The CEO Mosadi in Business Achievement Award recipients this year are Nhlanhla Mafu, Thando Thabethe and Boity, who the CEO said have displayed remarkable leadership, innovation and resilience in their respective ventures.
Expanding the awards across African borders, The Mosadi in Music in Africa Award were awarded to Berita (Zimbabwe), Maleh (Lesotho), Mpho Sebina (Botswana), Sefa (Ghana), and Victoria Kimani (Kenya), for enriching the music scene in their respective countries making a profound impact across the African continent.
Fans have the task of voting for their faves as voting lines are now open. The winners will be unveiled during the highly anticipated awards ceremony on August 12 2023.

Basadi in Music Awards returns for second year — Here are the nominees

The Basadi in Music Awards (Bima) officially announced the female powerhouses they have identified as worthy of recognition for 2023. The names were announced on Thursday at the Joburg Theatre.
Media personality Candice Modiselle was the host with the most and had the audience in the palm of her hands when we learnt who made the cut in the awards' sophomore year.
Bima presented the nominees in 24 categories and announced recipients of two special categories, the CEO’s Mosadi in Business Achievement Award and the Mosadi in Music in Africa Award, which were among three newly introduced categories alongside Reggae Artist of the Year, Nando's Emerging Artist of the Year and Mosadi in Music in Africa awards.
